KatyWhoWaited
Hello Dear Reader,
I'm "Katy," the recipient of these love letters from Vietnam. I met "Tim" at a party at a friend's house in November of 1968 when the Vietnam War was raging. It was a party I wasn't sure I even wanted to attend, but one that changed my fate. I remember walking down the steps to the basement "rec room" of my friend's house, and being immediately drawn to the person serving drinks behind the knotty pine "bar". He was tall and dark and handsome and after he spoke no more than two sentences to me, I knew I was falling in love.
These are not great literary pieces, but I am recording them because, like the proverbial mountain, they were there. I've saved them for over 40 years. Recording them on hubpages has given me happiness to realize I was blessed to have experienced the kind of love we romanticize about in storybooks and movies. But more than that, it has provided me and continues to provide me with insight to love and war, love during war, and love apart from war. My hope is that within these pages are insights that will be helpful in your own life because if there is any reason for our experiences, they are to be useful to our fellow travelers along our mysterious journeys.
